Apply for exemption from construction and operating regulations according to § 70 StVZO

Prerequisites

• Your vehicle deviates from the construction and operating regulations.

Documents required

The scope of the required documentation depends on the individual case. To find out which documents you need to submit, please contact the Exception Approval Management Department of the State Office for Transport (LBV) in advance. This is available by phone or email.

The following documents are required in all cases. Additional documents may be required on a case-by-case basis.

• Application with reasons and details of which vehicle/vehicle combination is affected and for what period
• Report from an officially recognized expert for motor vehicle traffic to obtain an exemption permit according to § 70 StVZO
• valid identity card, electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with confirmation of registration
• Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
• if necessary, a power of attorney

Deadlines

The exemption is granted for a maximum of 12 years.

• You submit all required documents to the LBV by post or in person.
• Your documents will be reviewed.
• You will be informed of the decision in writing.

Processing time

The processing time depends on the individual case.

Fees

The fees depend on the individual case and can only be determined after reviewing the complete documentation on-site. The basis for this is the Fee Schedule for Measures in Road Traffic (GebOSt).
