Prerequisites
You are a foreign national and are legally residing in Hamburg for the purpose of training, gainful employment or family reunification. As an employee or freelancer, you can get an appointment if your expected income exceeds the value limit according to § 18 b paragraph 2 sentence 2 of the Residence Act (currently 45,552 euros/year; monthly 3,796 euros). If your stay is aimed at the purpose of family reunification, the person you are joining must be responsible.
Alternatively, you can contact the customer centers or your local immigration office .
Documents required
With the online service “ Residence Permit Hamburg ” you can find out about the necessary documents in advance and send the documents to us with your appointment request. For general questions, you can contact us by phone on 040 428 39 - 5500 (availability: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

Processing time
Please note that we receive a large number of inquiries every day and that the examination requires a high level of staff. Please take into account that there may be delayed response times and that the waiting time for an appointment is usually several weeks.

Service description
The Hamburg Welcome Center attaches particular importance to supporting and advising qualified specialists and executives and their family members. Due to the current risk of infection with the coronavirus (Covid-19), visits by appointment are currently only possible! If you would like to collect your electronic residence permit, please contact us in writing to make an appointment.
If you would like to apply for a residence permit, you can use an existing self-registration terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to record the necessary biometric data (photo, signature, fingerprints).
Cost: 6 euros.
