In the State Archives you can view documents from authorities, institutions and important personalities that go back far into Hamburg's history. Here's how to access these documents.
You can research online or on site which documents you currently have access to in the state archives. You can order these and view them in the reading room. You can request digital reproductions or (certified) copies from a service provider for a fee. If you have any questions about research, a free consultation service is available by telephone or on site. Research by the State Archives is subject to a fee.

Prerequisites
Before visiting the State Archives, you should find out more about how to use the State Archives on the website and, if necessary, contact the advisory service. In any case, you must order the desired documents well in advance. You can then visit the state archives without registering. Digital reproductions or copies will be sent to you upon request. If documents are still protected, you must submit an application to shorten the protection period well in advance.
