Detailed description

The job titles

  • Architect
  • Interior designer
  • Landscape architect or landscape architect (female) as well as
  • urban planner

You may only use this title if you are registered under the corresponding designation in the architects' register. To be registered in the architects' register, you must submit an application to the responsible authority.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You have a residence, a branch, or your place of service or employment in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
  • You can prove your professional qualifications.

There are extensive requirements for inclusion in the company register. The responsible authority can provide you with more detailed information.

Documents required

  • Copy of both sides of your identity card (or passport with proof of residence)
  • Professional CV
  • Employment references to prove practical experience
  • Proof of titles, academic degrees or official designations
  • Proof of higher education
  • Planning documents from the period of practical activity

Do not submit original documents. You will not receive your submitted documents back. Additional documents may be required. The responsible authority can provide you with more detailed information.

Please note

Registration in the list of architects or urban planners entails mandatory membership in the Chamber of Architects and mandatory participation in the pension fund for architects.

Procedure

  • You submit your application to the responsible authority. Use the application form provided by the responsible authority.
  • You will receive confirmation of receipt and, if applicable, further information from the responsible authority.
  • The registration committee will discuss and decide on your application in a meeting. You will be informed of the meeting date in advance.

Processing time

Your complete application will usually be decided in less than 3 months.

Fees

A processing fee of EUR 300 will be charged for your application. If you are already registered with another German chamber of architects, the fee is EUR 150.
