The competent authority is responsible for the safe operation of construction sites and emission control.



These include:

  • Control and monitoring of occupational safety for employees on construction sites
  • Control and monitoring of the safety of pedestrians
  • Control and monitoring of emissions protection for passers-by, such as construction noise and dust
  • Advice and information for all those involved in the construction

Not included:

  • Construction sites with hazardous substances such as asbestos or mineral fibers
  • Occupation of public areas by construction site materials or construction site vehicles
  • Work on federally owned railway lines
  • Advice and information on construction types, building permits or similar

  • If your concern concerns hazardous substances such as asbestos or mineral fibers, please contact the Office for Occupational Safety and Health.
  • If you would like to complain about the use of public areas such as paths, streets or parking spaces, please contact your local district office and the Public Space Management Department.
  • If you are working on federal railway facilities (DB and S-Bahn), please contact the Federal Railway Authority.
