According to the Cattle Traffic Ordinance, every keeper of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, solipeds, chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, guinea fowl, partridges, pigeons, turkeys, quails, ratites, wild game, camelids and other cloven-hoofed animals is obliged regardless of the size of the herd to report his animal husbandry to the competent authority at the latest when the activity begins.
There is no exception for hobby attitudes .
The following information must be provided: name, address, species, number of animals kept on an annual average, type of use (e.g. breeding, fattening, hobby) and the location. Changes or abandonment of animal husbandry must also be reported immediately in writing .

Owners of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses also comply with their legal obligation to report to the Hamburg Animal Disease Fund when they report their animal husbandry.
