Apply for information from the contaminated sites register

Would you like to know whether there is a suspicion of soil contamination on your property, such as legacy waste or harmful soil changes? Then you can request information from the legacy waste register from the responsible authority.

Detailed description

Areas suspected of being contaminated are, for example

  • Land of closed businesses or
  • Properties on which environmentally hazardous substances have been handled or
  • Properties of disused waste disposal facilities as well as
  • other properties on which waste has been treated, stored or deposited.
The responsible authority maintains a register of contaminated sites in which areas suspected of being contaminated are registered. If you would like to find out whether your property is suspected of having contaminated sites, you can request information from the responsible authority.

Documents required

To provide information to people who are not the owners of the property in question, a power of attorney from the owner should be presented to shorten the process.

You must submit an application containing the following information:

  • your name
  • Your Address
  • Parcel number of the parcel in question

The information provided to you is based on information from the current contaminated sites register. The register of contaminated sites is continually updated; changes and updates are reserved. No liability is assumed for the up-to-dateness and completeness of the contaminated site register and the information provided therefrom.

Legal access to the information may be subject to legal restrictions, for example if personal data is present.

Procedure

  • You submit an application for information from the contaminated sites register to the responsible authority
  • The responsible authority will examine your application
  • You will receive a message as to whether the property in question is registered in the contaminated sites register and what information is recorded there.
  • You may pay a fee if applicable

Processing time

Depending on the scope of the information requested, the processing time is 1 – 2 months from receipt of the complete application documents.

Fees

Fees and expenses may apply in accordance with the environmental fee schedule.
