The Joint Central Adoption Office in Hamburg is one of the 13 Central Adoption Centers in Germany. It is a supraregional institution and is responsible for the four northern German states of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
Please note
The first point of contact for couples and individuals who would like to apply for the placement of an adoptive child is the adoption placement office in Hamburg (see link). The GZA is involved in adoptions if the adoption applicants or the child to be adopted have a foreign nationality, are stateless or have their place of residence abroad. Another task is to increase the placement chances for children for whom it is difficult to find new families.
