Apply for an operating license for a branch pharmacy

Prerequisites

• There is an emergency in the supply of medicines.
• They have the rooms required by law.
• You are the owner of a pharmacy near the premises of the planned branch pharmacy.

Documents required

• Declaration of full legal capacity
• Possession of the German license to practice as a pharmacist
• CV
• medical certificate of health
• Certificate of good conduct document type 0
• Information as to whether and, if so, where you operate one or more pharmacies in a Member State of the European Union or in another contracting state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in a contracting state to which Germany and the European Union have contractually granted a corresponding legal right

Deadlines

Submit the application at least 2 months before the planned opening of the branch pharmacy. All required documents must be submitted no later than 2 weeks before the opening.




You will receive permission to operate the branch pharmacy for a period of 5 years. You can then reapply for permission.

Procedure

• You submit your application with the required documents to the responsible authority.
• The responsible authority will examine your application and documents. If necessary, it will request further documents or information from you.
• The responsible authority inspects the premises and checks the requirements.
• The responsible authority will decide on your application.
• You will receive a notification.

Processing usually takes 4 to 8 weeks.
