Detailed description

In upper-class operating areas, large quantities of hazardous substances are stored or used.


In the event of a serious accident, such as an explosion, fire or the release of toxic substances, a quick and targeted response is required.


In order for firefighters, disaster control and other emergency services to know immediately what to do, they need all relevant information in advance.


If you wish to operate an upper-class operating area within the meaning of the Major Accident Ordinance, you must provide the information required to draw up external alarm and hazard prevention plans.


The information is required by the responsible disaster management authority to draw up emergency plans.


This allows coordinated action in an emergency, from evacuations to road closures.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You operate or plan to operate an upper-class operating area (according to the Major Accident Ordinance).
    • This means that you store hazardous substances above the upper quantity thresholds.
  • The operation falls under the extended obligations of the Major Accident Ordinance.

Documents required

  • necessary information for the creation of external alarm and hazard plans

If you do not provide the information, do not provide it correctly, do not provide it completely or do not provide it on time, you are committing an administrative offense.

Deadlines

Submit the information no later than one month before the operational area is put into operation.

Procedure

  • You submit the required information to the competent authority.
  • The responsible authority will receive your information and review it.
  • If further information is required, the authority will contact you.
  • The responsible authority forwards the information to the emergency services.

Processing time

There is no statutory processing time.

There are no costs involved.
