The vehicle owner is obliged to ensure uninterrupted insurance coverage. This means that every change of insurance must be reported to the licensing authority (LBV).
The notification is made in electronic form by the respective insurance company in the form of an insurance confirmation for transmission (VBÜ).
The insurance broker generates the VBÜ, which is transmitted to the respective licensing authority via the Gesamtverband der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft eV (GdV) and the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). The insurance broker or the insurance office receives an electronic confirmation of receipt. If you have any questions, the broker or insurance company can give priority to the GdV.
