Submit a measurement report on individual measurements of air pollutants at biological waste treatment plants

Do you operate a biological waste treatment facility? Learn how to submit a report on individual air pollutant measurements to the responsible authority here.

Detailed description

If you operate a biological waste treatment plant, you must have air pollutant emissions regularly monitored through continuous measurements.

In addition, you must have certain individual measurements carried out if the system has been newly constructed or significantly modified.

You commission the measurement from an accredited (notified) measuring institute. You prepare a measurement report based on the results, which you submit to the responsible authority.

Information

Prerequisites

  • They operate a plant for the biological treatment of waste.
  • You have newly constructed the facility or made significant changes.
  • You have put the system into operation.
  • You have commissioned an accredited measuring institute to carry out the measurement.

Documents required

  • Measurement planning
  • Measurement result
  • measurement methods used
  • Operating conditions that are important for the assessment of the measurement results

Please note

There are no special features to consider.

Deadlines

  • If your waste treatment plant has been newly constructed or significantly modified, you must carry out the measurements every two months for at least one day during the first year after commissioning.

  • From the second year after commissioning, you must carry out the measurements every 12 months on at least 3 days.

  • Submit the measurement report immediately after the measurement.

  • Keep the measurement report for at least 5 years.

Procedure

  • You contact an accredited (notified) measuring body, provide the information required for the measurement and arrange a measurement appointment.
  • The measuring point then confirms the measurement plan and reports it to the responsible body together with the measurement date.
  • At the measurement date, the measuring station determines the emission values and compares them with the legally prescribed emission values of your waste treatment plant.
  • After the measurement is completed, you will receive a measurement report from the measuring station.
  • You check the measurement report and submit it to the responsible authority along with the required documents.
