Apply for a permit to operate systems with carbon dioxide release

Detailed description

If you want to operate certain facilities that emit carbon dioxide, you must apply for a permit.


You also need a permit if you operate plants whose components or subsystems emit carbon dioxide.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You operate a plant, parts of a plant or ancillary facilities of a plant that releases carbon dioxide.
  • You provide all the required information in your application.
  • They shall notify the competent authority in a timely manner of any changes to the activity that may affect emissions

Documents required

Your application should contain the following information:

  1. Name and address of the plant operator,
  2. Description of the activity, location and nature and extent of the operations carried out there and the technologies used,
  3. Description of the spatial demarcation of the plant components, process steps and ancillary facilities for plant components and ancillary facilities with carbon dioxide release,
  4. Sources of emissions and
  5. Date at which the plant was or is to be put into operation

Please note

The specific installations with carbon dioxide emissions are listed in Annex 1 Part 2 numbers 1 to 32 of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act (TEHG).

Deadlines

You need approval before you start operating the systems, sub-systems, parts of systems or ancillary equipment of systems that release carbon dioxide.

Procedure

  • You submit a written or electronic application to the responsible office for a permit to operate certain installations that emit carbon dioxide.
  • The responsible authority will review your application and request additional application documents from you if necessary.
  • The responsible authority will decide on your application.
  • You will receive a notification.
