Detailed description
The Hamburg Bar Association offers the following services, among others:
- The Hanseatic Bar Association is responsible for admission to the legal profession. If you would like to be admitted to the legal profession and your law firm will be based in Hamburg, you can submit the relevant application to us. This applies both to admission as an established lawyer and to admission as an in-house lawyer.
- If you are a qualified lawyer in an EU country or a WHO country, you can apply to be admitted to our practice as a European lawyer or as a foreign lawyer.
- As a citizen, you can turn to the Hanseatic Bar Association if you would like mediation in the event of difficulties with your Hamburg lawyer. A special case of mediation is the possibility of fee arbitration. The Hanseatic Bar Association is also responsible for complaints in the event of possible breaches of professional law by a Hamburg lawyer.
The Hanseatic Bar Association, however, is not authorized to assess the quality of legal services and determine any resulting (damages) claims. For this purpose, the relevant civil courts may have to be contacted. As an alternative to civil proceedings, however, the legal profession's arbitration board could also be involved, which can settle material damages of up to €50,000.00.
