Show commissioning, modification, decommissioning or change of operator of evaporative cooling systems, cooling towers and wet scrubbers

If you wish to commission or operate evaporative cooling systems, cooling towers or wet separators and wish to make changes to or shut down the systems or change the operator, you must notify the competent authority.

Detailed description

If you want to put a new evaporative cooling system, cooling tower or wet separator into operation, you must report this to the responsible authority. Systems that were already in operation before August 20, 2018 had to be reported by this date.


Changes or decommissioning of evaporative cooling systems, cooling towers or wet separators must also be reported to the responsible authority.


If you assume responsibility for such a facility, i.e. become the operator, you are also obliged to notify the responsible authority of the change of operator.

Prerequisites

You put an evaporative cooling system, a cooling tower or a wet separator into operation.


You shut down an evaporative cooling system, a cooling tower or a wet separator.


The operator of your evaporative cooling system, cooling tower or wet separator has changed.


You have made changes to your evaporative cooling system, a cooling tower or a wet separator.

Please note

If your system exceeds the action values for the concentration of Legionella in service water, you must report this to the responsible authority.



You must also report expert inspections for your systems via the portal.

Deadlines

You must notify the responsible authority of the operation of a new system no later than one month after the initial filling with service water.


You had to report existing systems to the responsible authority by August 20, 2018 at the latest.


As the new operator, you must report any changes to the system, the decommissioning of the system or any change of operator to the responsible authority immediately, but no later than within one month.

Procedure

You submit the notification electronically via the “Register for the recording of evaporative cooling systems 42. BImSchV – KaVKA”.


You register in the KaVKA-42.BV system.


You enter the master data of the workplace and the facility in the input mask.


You submit your entries to the responsible authority.


The responsible authority will check your entries and documents. If necessary, the responsible authority will request further documents and information from you.


The responsible authority records your cooling system in the register of evaporative cooling systems.
