If your income or assets are not sufficient for your necessary living expenses
If you live in a special form of integration assistance, you will receive basic social security under certain conditions.

  •

Detailed description

You can receive financial support through basic security in old age and in the event of incapacity for work. This helps you finance your living expenses and covers the socio-cultural minimum subsistence level. It is a social assistance benefit and fulfils the same function as assistance with living expenses, but for a specific group of people. You can receive basic security if you have reached the age limit (this limit is between 66 and 67 years) or if you are over 18 years old and permanently fully incapacitated for work.
In addition, you can also receive the benefits for the period in which you

  • complete the entry procedure and vocational training in a workshop for disabled people or with another service provider, or
  • are in an apprenticeship for which you receive a training budget.

In addition, the person seeking benefits must live in a special form of housing for integration assistance, be in need of assistance and have their usual place of residence in Germany. The extent of basic security depends on your individual
Need and your existing income and assets. The granting of benefits requires need. Basic security basically covers various needs,
these include:

  • the relevant standard requirement
  • needs for accommodation, as far as they are reasonable
  • additional requirements, such as additional requirements for:
  1. Possession of a severely disabled person’s ID card with the symbol G, or
  2. Illness if a special diet is required for medical reasons
  3. pregnancy

One-off needs in special situations (e.g. initial furnishings for the apartment)

  • needs for health/nursing care insurance
