Report hygiene deficiencies in medical facilities

If you notice or suspect a hygiene deficiency in a medical facility, you can report it.

  •

Detailed description

In medical facilities, such as doctor's offices or hospitals, strict hygiene regulations apply to ensure the safety of patients and employees. If you notice a lack of hygiene in a medical facility, first contact the location where the deficiency occurs. The problem can often be resolved immediately on site. If there is no improvement, you have the option of contacting higher-level administrative departments.

Procedure

  • You identify the defect and, if necessary, document it with a photo. Make note of details such as the exact location, the type of defect and the time of discovery.
  • You should contact the responsible staff or department of the facility where the deficiency occurred. This could be the nursing staff, for example.
  • You report the deficiency and provide all relevant information. Many facilities have specific internal procedures for reporting hygiene deficiencies. These may include forms or reporting channels that you should use.
  • After you report the defect, the facility should provide feedback or fix the problem within a certain period of time.
  • If the deficiency is not remedied despite your report, contact higher-level authorities in the administration or the responsible health authority in the FHH. There you can submit your complaint again and ask for support.
  • The responsible administrative department will examine your report and, if necessary, initiate further measures.
  • As a rule, you will not be informed about the further course of the procedure. If you have any questions, the responsible office will contact you again.
