Integration Assistance (SGB IX) - Initial Application

Do you have a disability or are you at risk of becoming disabled? Are you only able to participate in social life to a limited extent due to your disability? If so, you may be eligible for integration assistance.

  •

Detailed description

The integration assistance services are provided to eliminate or mitigate the disability or its consequences and thus give disabled people the opportunity to participate in social life. Integration assistance is the most important support provided by the state for people with disabilities. With its help, they should be able to participate in life as much as possible like people without disabilities. Participation relates to the world of work and housing, but also to other areas of life.

The Integration Assistance Department is responsible for all integration assistance services throughout Hamburg. Exceptions to this are

  • the special fields of integration assistance for drug and addiction addicts;
  • achievements in school and those within the daycare system,

which will continue to remain in the departments already responsible.
People with disabilities or people at risk of disability can receive benefits under the Ninth Book of the Social Code (SGB IX) in order to promote their self-determination and their full, effective and equal participation in life in society and to avoid or counteract disadvantages.
