Detailed description

If you have applied for an identity card, it usually takes 2 weeks before you can collect it.



If you have applied for a passport, it usually takes about 4 weeks before you can pick it up.



If you have applied for an eID card, it usually takes 2-3 weeks before you can pick it up.



You can inquire at the relevant office whether your identity card or passport is ready for collection.

Prerequisites

You will need the serial number you received when you applied for the document.

If you wish to use the online service "Application status ID card/passport/eID card" to check the status, you do not need to register in the Hamburg Service Portal.

If you no longer have the collection slip with the serial number, please contact the Hamburg Service by phone (040 - 115) or send an email to the responsible Hamburg Service in your area.

Procedure

  • To check the status of your identity card or passport, please call the Hamburg Telephone Service on 115.
  • Alternatively, you can check the status of your identity card or passport online via the online service "Order status ID card/passport/eID card".
  • Once the document is ready for collection, you can pick it up. Please refer to the instructions under "Collecting your identity card" or "Collecting your passport" (see the "Links" section).
