Vehicle registration plates, apply for changeable license plates

Prerequisites

The basic requirement is that there are two vehicles in the same vehicle class. Either two cars (vehicle class M1), two two- or three-wheeled vehicles (vehicle class L) or two trailers up to a maximum of 750 kg (vehicle class O1).

Documents required

The application documents do not differ from the documents for normal vehicle registration.

Please note

• Both vehicles must be taxed and are subject to compulsory insurance.
• Only one of the two vehicles may participate in public road traffic at a time.
• The second vehicle may not be parked in public traffic areas during this time.
• The common part of the license plate must always be attached to the vehicle that is used on public roads. The vehicle-related parts always remain on both vehicles.

An appointment is necessary to apply for the change license plate.

Here you have the option of submitting your application for admission to the LBV. If the documents are complete, you can collect your application by appointment, at the earliest on the following working day.

Appointment booking: 
There is no special appointment type for this license plate. An appointment must be made during the registration process.
It is therefore necessary to select the respective admission case type in the appointment management, e.g. transfer from outside HH.

• Documents and signs will be given to you.
• Your vehicle is registered.

Fees

In addition to the registration fees for both vehicles (which differ depending on the type of registration), a fee for exchange license plates of EUR 6.00 per vehicle is charged as well as twice the license plate fee of currently EUR 10.20. The basis for the fee level is the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt).
