Prerequisites
- Her main residence is in Hamburg.
- If you have been granted a blocking period, this must have expired before the new one is issued (you can submit the application up to 6 months before the blocking period expires).
- You can prove that you are qualified and suitable to drive a vehicle.
The exact requirements for reissuing a license can vary greatly from case to case; specific requirements will be communicated to you during a personal consultation.
Documents required
- valid identity card or passportwith current registration confirmation
- current biometric passport photo (35x45 millimeters)
- Certificate of good conduct (feature O for official purposes at the registration authority), not older than 3 months
- Appointment confirmation
- if available: thefinal court decision (penalty order or judgment) on the withdrawal of the driving license
- If you previously lived in another city and have recently moved to Hamburg: Confirmation from the previously responsible authority that your filewas sent to the State Transport Authority in Hamburg
- If your original driving licence class B was issued before 1 August 1969: Proof of participation in a first aid training course
Additionally for driving licenses for motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and motorcycles (classes A, A1, B, BE, M, L or T):
- Eye test (for example by an optician), not older than 2 years
Additionally for all larger motor vehicles (categories C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE or D1E):
- Report from an ophthalmologist in accordance with Annex 6 of the Driving Licence Regulation (FeV), validity: maximum two years from the date of issue
- Medical reports for C/D classes according to Appendix 5 FeV (family doctor or occupational traffic medicine specialist for D classes), validity: max. 1 year from the date of issue

The application for a new licence is only possiblepossible at the LBV-Mitte location.
Reissuance is only possible for the driving license classes you held before the revocation. If you still hold the old driving license classes, they will be converted to the current version. The regular driving license is then generally issued for an unlimited period. For classes C, C1, CE, C1E, D, D1, DE, and D1E, the driving license is issued for a limited period.
In individual cases, it may be necessary for you to take the driving test again.

- Then select: Re-issuance after withdrawal (advice)
- Follow the steps to reserve an appointment.
- You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
- You will receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring it with you to your appointment.
Deadlines
You can apply for a new driving license at the earliest 6 months before the expiry of the suspension period.
