Apply for medical assistance

Children or young people in foster families or in residential child and youth welfare facilities are entitled to medical assistance. Parents in shared accommodation for parents and children may also be entitled to medical assistance.

  •

Detailed description

Children, adolescents and young adults who live in foster families, children's homes, individual care or similar forms of social care or who are in a similar life situation are entitled to health care assistance. Single mothers or fathers who look after a child under the age of six alone and live with the child in a shared accommodation arrangement for mothers/fathers/children may also be entitled to health care assistance.

Medical assistance is comparable to the services provided by a statutory health insurance company. Medical assistance is granted to you if you do not have any other health insurance or if it does not cover all the necessary costs. If medical assistance is approved, the responsible body will cover the costs of your medical care.

If you need medical assistance, you must submit an application to the relevant authority.
