BAföG recognition of training courses at private art schools

Private artistic vocational schools can have their training courses recognized as equivalent in accordance with Section 2 Paragraph 2 of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). This enables trainees to finance their training with the help of student BAföG.

Detailed description

The cultural and creative metropolis of Hamburg is home to many private art schools. As vocational training centers, they offer creative young people a wide range of artistic development and learning opportunities. They train young artists in practical courses such as acting, dance, singing, music, writing, graphic, fashion and game design. At the end of the training, the student receives a professional qualification.
Private artistic vocational schools can have their training courses recognized as equivalent in accordance with Section 2 Paragraph 2 of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). Successful recognition enables trainees to finance their training with the help of student BAföG. In addition, it ensures that the training courses are equivalent to those of state vocational schools. Recognition of equivalence must be made individually for each training course.
The Authority for Culture and Media is responsible for recognizing the equivalence of training courses and for supervising private art schools.
