Population register simple information for lawyers or companies

If you need registration data about a person, you can request a simple registration information request.

Detailed description

As part of the simple registration information, you will receive from the responsible office:

  • surname
  • First names
  • Doctorate
  • current addresses

to the person you are looking for.



If the person you are looking for has died, you will be informed.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You provide information that allows the person you are looking for to be clearly identified. This means that you already have data about the person in question (usually first and last name, date of birth, gender, or last known address).
  • For commercial inquiries, please also state the intended use of the data.
  • You declare that you will not use the data for advertising or address trading purposes or that the data subject has given his or her consent to do so.

Documents required

  • Proof of identity of the person searching
  • First and last name of the person sought and
  • previous address or date of birth of the person being sought

Please note

The online service searches exclusively in the current population register. Records of individuals who have not been registered in Hamburg for more than five years are moved to the historical database (archive) and cannot be found online. The online service generates a neutral response for a fee. Inquiries regarding such records can only be submitted in writing to a Hamburg Service location or the residents' register (einwohnerregister@hamburgservice.de).

Procedure

Apply for a simple registration information online:

  • If you haven't already done so, set up a Business service account.
    • Help with creating a service account can be found in the "Links" section.
  • You enter all data into the online service.
  • You pay the fee.
  • You can retrieve the registration information immediately in the portal mailbox of the online service.

If the person you are looking for has not been registered in Hamburg for 5 years, please apply for a simple registration information in writing:

  • You submit your request in writing.
  • The responsible authority will review your request.
  • You will receive an answer by post.
  • You pay the fee after you receive the fee notice.

Processing time

You can access the registration information online immediately.


Processing a written request is expected to take 3 weeks.

Fees

The commission fee is


  • 6.00 EUR for information provided online (also for neutral answers)

  • 14.00 EUR for written information

  • 17.00 EUR for information in case of special findings or other increased workload

You can take advantage of this service at any Hamburg Service Resident Affairs location, regardless of where you live in Hamburg.

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).


Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.


Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.


There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.


Use costs 6 euros.


Please speak to the clerk afterwards.



The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
