Apply for certification of aviation security control personnel for access control, surveillance and patrols at an airport

Detailed description

Only certified individuals are permitted to work as access control officers and as personnel for surveillance and patrols in aviation security areas. If you wish to have the employees concerned certified, you must submit an application.



Such certification consists of training and subsequent certification by the responsible body. The training includes theoretical, practical, and application-specific elements. Employees registered for certification must demonstrate the necessary experience and competence in the following areas:

  • Security procedures,
  • Knowledge of the access control systems used at the airport in question,
  • Knowledge of the authorizations, including airport passes and vehicle passes, that authorize access to airside areas, and the ability to recognize these authorizations,
  • Knowledge of the procedures for patrols, stopping persons, and the circumstances under which persons should be stopped or reported,
  • Ability to react appropriately to the discovery of prohibited items,
  • Knowledge of immediate measures, interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to deal with cultural differences and potentially dangerous passengers.

Prerequisites

  • You operate an airfield or a security service and would like to have access control personnel as well as staff for surveillance and patrols in the aviation security area certified.
  • The employees registered for certification
    • have passed the reliability check at the start of the training,
    • have a training certificate,
    • are physically and mentally suitable for work as security personnel.

  • List of all training participants
  • Certificate of Certification for Trainers
  • Proof of successful completion of the reliability check of all training participants

The certification is valid for 5 years.

Procedure

  • You submit your application to the relevant authority via the provided online service, attach all required documents and report the training needs for security personnel.
  • The responsible authority will review your submitted documents.
  • The security service provider conducts the training and submits the training certificate to the relevant authority.
  • The relevant authority will review your documents.
  • Participants receive their certification from the responsible authority. The airport operator receives a copy.
  • The responsible authority issues a fee notice and sends it to the airport operator.

The processing time depends on the individual case.

Fees

The fees range between 20.00 euros and 40.00 euros.
