Apply for early start of discharge of wastewater into public wastewater systems

If you want to discharge commercial wastewater into a public wastewater plant or sewer system, you need a permit. Under certain conditions, the competent authority may allow you to start discharging before you have received approval.

If you want to discharge wastewater into a public wastewater plant, you must apply for a permit. If you cannot or do not want to wait until approval is granted, the responsible authority can allow the initiation to begin earlier upon your request.

Prerequisites

Approval can be granted if:

  • You have already applied for the discharge permit and
  • a decision in your favor can be expected and
  • There is a demonstrable public interest or a legitimate interest on your part in the early start of the initiation and
  • You undertake to compensate for any damage caused by the discharge up to the decision and, if the discharge is not approved, to restore the previous condition.

Procedure

  • You submit an application to the responsible office and attach the necessary documents to the application.
  • The responsible office will check your application and, if necessary, request any missing documents from you.
  • If all factual and legal requirements are met, the responsible authority approves the early start of wastewater discharge.
  • You will receive a written acceptance letter from the responsible office.
  • You pay the administration fees.

You must expect processing to take up to several weeks.
