In Hamburg there are over 100 emergency meeting points in the state forest areas. These are provided with GPS coordinates and a unique, continuous identifier and stored in the system of the Hamburg fire brigade.
In an emergency, helpers only have to dial the emergency number 112 and inform the fire brigade of the ID of the emergency meeting point. The rescue workers of the Hamburg fire brigade can then use the stored GPS coordinates to get to the emergency location with pinpoint accuracy.
