Report the use of renewable energies when replacing the heating system

If you install or replace a heating system in your building, you must, under certain conditions, cover a proportion of the heat energy with renewable energies and provide evidence of this to the responsible authority.

Detailed description

If you, as the owner of a building, want to replace its heating system or have one installed later, you are required under certain conditions to cover at least 15% of the building's annual heat energy requirements with renewable energy. You must prove to the responsible authority that your heating system meets this requirement.

Prerequisites

  • You are the owner of a building
    • Alternatively: The owner has commissioned you as a representative of a management company or expert to submit the report.
  • The building was constructed before 01.01.2009
  • You have replaced or installed the heating system in this building after 30 June 2021 or will do so in the future

  • Installation certificate from an expert organization
  • Last year’s invoice for the purchase of
    • Biomethan
    • Bio oil

Deadlines

You must submit the notification to the responsible authority within 18 months of commissioning the new heating system.

Procedure

  • You submit your report in writing or using the online service.
    • If you use the online service, the documents required in your specific case will be automatically identified. Calculation aids are also available there. The online service will immediately inform you whether you have fulfilled your reporting obligation. These services cannot be offered when processing the application in writing.
  • The responsible authority will check your report and, if necessary, request any necessary documents or information from you.
  • You will receive confirmation that your reporting obligation has been fulfilled.

Processing time

Depending on the complexity, the online procedure takes between 20 and 40 minutes to process. The online service will immediately inform you whether you have fulfilled your reporting obligation. The processing time for the written procedure can take several weeks.
