In order to prevent dental diseases or to detect them at an early stage, you as a person with health insurance can take advantage of preventive dental services.

Detailed description

As a person with health insurance, you can receive preventive dental services (prophylactic measures). These are designed to detect and treat any dental, oral and jaw diseases at an early stage. Your health insurance provider is responsible for providing these services.

The dental check-up for adults includes:

  • the guide to effective oral hygiene,
  • Tips for reducing risk factors
  • the removal of hard deposits and caries or of irritants that can cause gingivitis.

Some health insurance companies offer different or additional services.

The preventive medical examination is scheduled once a year. There may be deadlines for carrying out certain services. Your health insurance provider can provide you with information on this.

The processing time depends on the individual case.

Fees

As a rule, your health insurance company will cover the costs for you. You may have to pay for measures that exceed your agreed insurance coverage yourself.
