When you enroll in a course of study, you must prove that you have health insurance. This also applies if you do not live in Germany. You must also have health insurance if you complete work experience during your course of study.
If at least one parent has statutory health insurance, you as a student can usually be covered free of charge. This family insurance is only valid until your 25th birthday.
If you are married or live in a registered civil partnership, insurance is possible through your legally insured partner.
If you are not able to be covered by your parents' or partner's health insurance, some statutory or private health insurance companies offer reduced premiums.
