If you are a young person and want to hunt with birds of prey or falcons (falconry), you must apply for a youth falconry hunting license. With a youth falconry hunting license, you can hunt accompanied by a guardian with hunting experience or a supervisor with hunting experience appointed in writing by your guardian(s). If you want to hunt regularly, you can apply for the youth falconry hunting license as an annual hunting license.

Prerequisites

  • You are at least 16 years old and not yet 18 years old at the time of issue
  • You have the necessary personal reliability
  • You have the necessary physical fitness
  • You have taken out hunting liability insurance
  • You have passed the falconry exam
  • You are in possession of a youth hunting license issued in Germany or a special youth hunting license for falconers
  • The consent of the legal guardian is available

  • ID
  • Hunting license or special hunting license for falconers or certificate of the hunting exam or certificate of the special hunting exam for falconers
  • Certificate of falconry examination
  • current photograph
  • Proof of statutory hunting liability insurance
  • Consent of the person with custody

Please note

With a youth falconry hunting license you are not allowed to take part in group hunts.

Deadlines

The annual hunting license for young people is valid for a maximum of two consecutive hunting years. The hunting year begins on April 1st and ends on March 31st of each calendar year.

Procedure

  • You submit your application in writing or online and provide the necessary documents.
    • If you submit the application in writing, submit it by post or in person to the responsible office.
  • The responsible authority will check your application for completeness and correctness and, if necessary, request any missing documents or information from you.
  • The responsible authority will inform you in writing about the decision on your application.
