Detailed description

If you want to hold an aviation event where aircraft are displayed in flight or compete against each other, you must apply for a permit.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • As an event organizer, you have taken out event organizer liability insurance.
  • The planned aviation event does not endanger public safety or order.

Documents required

  • Fully completed application for approval of an aviation event in duplicate
  • Consent of the airport operator (if the organizer is not also the airport operator)
  • If the aviation event is located outside an airfield:
    • Proof of right of use
    • Sketch of the proposed site with details of its dimensions and a report on its suitability
    • Map at a scale of 1:25000
    • Site plan at a scale of 1:1500 to 1:5000 with the event site marked. The plan must include the dimensions of the event site, takeoff and landing areas, the locations of the emergency services and the doctor, as well as parking spaces and barriers.
    • Event program including flight program
    • Air traffic control information (description of airspace or route)
  • At the request of the competent authority:
    • Security concept including emergency planning
    • Flight operating instructions of the event manager
    • Names and pilot licenses or officially certified copies of the pilot licenses of the aircraft operators involved
    • Agreements between the organizer and the pilots, airlines, other participants in the flight demonstrations in the air and on the ground and with the liability and accident insurance
    • Proof of event organizer liability insurance
    • Proof of ground accident insurance
    • Proof of continuous flight training by the participating aerobatic pilots
    • Report on the suitability of the event site

Please note

For aviation events involving only model aircraft and non-motorized air sports equipment, you do not need a permit if:

  • You already have a climbing permit,
  • approval for normal air traffic is not necessary,
  • no people are transported.

The approval may be subject to conditions.

Deadlines

You must submit your application at least 8 weeks before the start of the aviation event.

Procedure

  • You submit an application and attach all the necessary documents.
  • The responsible authority will examine your application.
  • You will receive a notice of approval or rejection by mail. If approval is granted, the responsible authority will determine the necessary safety and noise protection measures.
  • During the event, the responsible authority will monitor compliance with safety and noise protection measures.

Processing time

The processing time depends on the individual case and is usually 2 to 8 weeks.

Fees

The application is free of charge.


A fee is only payable after the application has been reviewed, which depends on the type and size of the event.
