Driving license, B96 license

Prerequisites

• drivers licence class B
• Training by a driving school (driver training)
• Minimum age 18 years

• The main residence under registration law is Hamburg.

Documents required

• EU driving license with cards
• 1 biometric passport photo 35 X 45 mm (without headgear)
• Certificate of attendance from the driving school in accordance with Annex 7a of the Driving License Ordinance (FeV)
• Copy of the index card - only required if an EU driving license has not yet been issued and the last driving license was not issued in Hamburg (see also link)
• Appointment confirmation

Please note

The demarcation from class BE results from the fact that the class BE can carry trailers with a gross vehicle weight of over 750 kg to 3,500 kg. A practical test is also required for the BE class.

Appointment booking

1. Visit the website to book an appointment (see link below)
2. Select the service group: Driver's license
3. Select the service: Change of driver's license data
4. Use location selection to display appointments at a specific location
   Use the date picker to find the next available date regardless of your location
5. Select a free appointment (date and time) in the calendar displayed
6. Enter your name and email address to book.

You will then receive a confirmation of the appointment. Please bring this with you to the appointment.

Processing time

The driver's license can be picked up from the LBV after 4 weeks at the latest. If the driver's license is to be sent home, the previous driver's license must be canceled. With the granting of a special permit (fee 19.20 EUR), you can continue to drive with the invalidated driver's license for a limited period of time. The additional expense for sending is 2.60 EUR.

Fees

The fee for entering the key number is EUR 28.60. In addition, there are the fees for the new driver's license of EUR 32.50.
