Apply for fishing with electricity

Prerequisites

• You can justify and prove why fishing with electricity is necessary.
• You have completed a course in electrofishing and can provide evidence of this.
• You have sufficient liability insurance and can prove this.

Documents required

• Justification that electrofishing is necessary for the sustainable management of a fishing water or for the purposes of fisheries science, nature conservation or other necessary fisheries biology studies
• Proof of attending a recognized electrofishing course in the Federal Republic of Germany
• Proof of sufficient liability insurance
• A certificate, no more than 3 years old, that the electric fishing tackle complies with the regulations of the Association of German Electrical Engineers

Please note

The fishing equipment used for electrofishing must comply with the regulations of the Association of German Electrical Engineers.

However, you must have the permit before you start electrofishing.

Procedure

In order to receive approval, you must submit an informal, written application to the responsible authority. Approval will be granted to you by the responsible authority after checking all legal and factual requirements.

Fees

Permit: EUR 50.00


Per body of water in which electrofishing is to be carried out: an additional EUR 5.00

Legal remedies

An objection can be lodged against the decision within one month.
