Prerequisites
- You have a firearms license (WBK) for clubs.
- You must prove that you can safely store the weapon you wish to purchase.
Documents required
- Identity card or passport (copy)
- Weapon ownership card (WBK) for clubs
- Proof of safe storage
Please note
When applying for a permit to purchase a firearm, you only need to state what type of weapon and what caliber you want to purchase. Additional information, such as the manufacturer and exact model, is not required at first. You only need to provide this information once you have purchased the weapon and have fulfilled your obligation to report the purchase of the weapon to the relevant authority. The gun dealer must also report the transfer of the weapon to you.
To make it easier to fill out the declaration, you can use the National Weapons Register identification numbers (NWR-ID):
- Use your personal NWR ID (e.g. P- or F-NWR-ID) for personal information.
- Use the permit NWR ID (E-NWR ID) for information on firearms permits.
- The weapon or weapon part NWR ID (e.g. W or T NWR ID) is relevant for information on weapons or weapon parts.
You can obtain the corresponding NWR IDs by submitting an application to the responsible weapons authority.
Deadlines
With the pre-registration you have one year to purchase the registered weapon.
