Apply for online poker games permission

Prerequisites

• You are at least 18 years old.
• You are based in a member state of the European Union (EU) or a contracting state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA)
• They meet the requirements of the State Treaty on Gambling:
  • They have an enhanced level of reliability (no illegal gambling, transparent ownership and shareholding structures)
  • You have sufficient performance capacity (equity, profitability, insurance coverage)
  • They ensure transparency and security of gambling
  • You can ensure the provision of security of at least EUR 5 million up to a maximum of EUR 50 million.

• Explanation of which game-relevant information is made available to players on the website and how this is presented
• Explanation of how information about the risks of addiction, the prohibition of participation by minors and the counseling and therapy options are provided
• Notification of the expected amount of gaming stakes in the Federal Republic of Germany over the next 5 years
• Description of measures to prevent manipulation
• printout of the General Terms and Conditions (GTC)
• Statement of a tax or auditing firm regarding its performance

Validity period usually 5 years


In justified individual cases, a shorter duration is possible.


You can submit the subsequent application immediately after the main application, but no later than two weeks after the permit has been granted in relation to the main application.

Procedure

• You submit your application in writing or online to the responsible authority and attach the necessary documents.
  • In addition to your main application, you can submit a downstream application for individual virtual slot games. Provide information on the technical access to the virtual slot games, as well as all details (name, type, URL, category and the game rules)
• The responsible authority will examine your application and, if necessary, request any missing documents or information from you.
• After the examination and approval by the Joint Gambling Authority of the States (GGL) has been completed, you will receive a permit. If you submitted your application in writing, you will receive your permit by post. If you submitted your application online, you will receive the permit directly via your service account.

Processing time

The processing time is at least 3 months.

The costs vary depending on the individual case.
