Residual waste or household waste is waste that you cannot dispose of in any other way and that does not endanger the environment. You dispose of this in the residual waste bin.

Prerequisites

  • You dispose of the residual waste from your private household in the residual waste bin provided by the Hamburg city cleaning service.

Please note

Separate your waste to reduce your residual waste:

  • Place organic kitchen and garden waste in the green organic waste bin.
  • Packaging and small waste items made of metal and plastic belong in the yellow recycling bin and recycling bags.
  • Dispose of your waste paper in the blue waste paper bin or in recycling containers.
  • You can dispose of your used glass free of charge in the recycling containers.
  • In the residual waste bin, you dispose of waste that cannot be recycled and is suitable for this purpose due to its type and size.

Deadlines

Please place your residual waste bin at the curbside by 6 a.m. on the collection day.

Procedure

  • You can order a residual waste bin through your landlord.
  • As a property owner, please contact the Hamburg city cleaning department with your customer number.
  • As a property owner, you can determine how often your residual waste bin is collected. Please contact Hamburg's waste management department to arrange this.
  • As a tenant, you should contact your landlord for this.
  • If you have any further questions about the procedure, you can contact the Hamburg city cleaning department.

Processing time



The residual waste bin is emptied according to the collection calendar of the Hamburg city cleaning service.

  • The basic waste management fee is €7.22 per month.

  • 60L garbage bag (in certain areas): €13.66 per week; €8.19 per month

  • 120L garbage bag (in certain areas): €21.06 per week; €12.64 per month

  • 60-liter container, self-transport: €15.13 per week; €9.08 per month

  • 80-liter container, self-transport: €17.35 per week; €10.41 per month

  • 120-liter container, self-transport: €19.83 per week; €11.90 per month

  • 240 l container, self-transport: EUR 31.29 per week; EUR 18.77 per month

  • 500 l container, up to 25 meters: EUR 89.75

  • 770 l container, up to 25 meters: 113.56 EUR

  • 1,100 l container, up to 25 meters: EUR 137.88
