Detailed description

If you want to bring animals, animal products, goods, samples or pets into Germany, export them from Germany or transport them within the European Union, you will need a permit in many cases.


This is especially important for samples, product samples, and pets.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • The destination of the animals or goods is located within the territory of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
  • This service applies to animal by-products: registration or authorization under Regulation (EU) No 1069/2009

Documents required

The required documents depend on the individual case. You can find out what they are from the responsible authority.

Please note

  • Intra-Community movement: Transport between EU countries as well as to or from Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
  • Import: Transport from countries that are not part of the European Union (EU) (third countries) to Germany
  • Export: Transport from Germany to countries that are not part of the EU (third countries)
  • Transit: Temporary transport from a third country to Germany with subsequent onward transport to another third country

Deadlines

You need the permit before you are allowed to transport the animals or goods accordingly.

Procedure

  • You apply for the permit in writing, informally, with the required documents to the responsible authority.
  • The responsible authority will review your application and documents. If necessary, they will request further documents or information from you.
  • The relevant authority will decide on your application.
  • You will receive a notification.
  • You will receive a fee notice.
  • They pay the fees.

Processing time

Processing usually takes 1 to 2 weeks.
