If you are a person of foreign origin and want to hunt with birds of prey or falcons in Germany, you must apply for a foreign falconry hunting license. If you want to hunt regularly, you can apply for the foreign falconry hunting license as an annual hunting license.

Detailed description

If you are a foreign citizen and want to hunt with falcons and birds of prey in Germany, you usually need a German falconry hunting license and a hunting license. If you do not take a German falconry and hunting exam, you can, under certain conditions, apply for an annual hunting license for falconers of foreign origin (foreign annual falconry hunting license).

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You are at least 18 years old when issuing the permit
  • You are a foreign citizen and do not have your main residence in Germany
  • You have the necessary personal reliability
  • You have the necessary physical fitness
  • You have taken out hunting liability insurance
  • You have passed a foreign falconry exam that is comparable to the German falconry exam

Documents required

  • Proof of identity (e.g. ID card or passport)
  • Hunting license from your home country
  • Falconry license from your home country
  • if applicable, certificate of the hunter’s examination with any additional documents
  • if applicable, certificate of the falconry examination with any additional documents
  • current photograph
  • Proof of statutory hunting liability insurance

Deadlines

The annual hunting license is valid for a maximum of three consecutive hunting years. The hunting year begins on April 1st and ends on March 31st of each calendar year.

Procedure

  • You submit your application in writing or online and provide the necessary documents.
    • If you submit the application in writing, submit it by post or in person to the responsible office.
  • The responsible authority will check your application for completeness and correctness and, if necessary, request any missing documents or information from you.
  • The responsible authority will inform you in writing about the decision on your application.
