Detailed description

The directory of the owners of a business, a trade that does not require a license or a trade similar to a handicraft is a register of all owners of a permanent trade in which trades or a trade that does not require a license are carried out. It is maintained by each Chamber of Commerce for its Chamber of Commerce district.
Information from the directory can be provided to you on request if you can prove a legitimate interest.
An individual report contains the following information about a company:

  • Company details
  • First and last name of the registered specialist in the trade who runs the business, or the legal representative or the manager or the personally liable party responsible for the technical management of the business
  • Type of registered craft
  • Address of commercial establishment.
Provided that there are no legitimate interests of the persons concerned against this, the information will be made available to you. As the recipient of information, you may only use this data for the purpose that you specified when you submitted your application.

Prerequisites

You may have a legitimate interest if you are pursuing an economic goal with the information - for example if you have a supplying company that would like to know who the owner of a craft business is. As a private individual, you can also refer to the legitimate interest if you would like to know more about a company.

Documents required

  • Application for individual information according to § 6 paragraph 2 HwO
  • The application is informal and must be submitted in text form to the responsible chamber of crafts. In addition to the information on the person applying for the information (you), the application must also contain information on the company (address, name) for which information is requested and make your legitimate interest credible.

  • Presentation of ID card or passport with confirmation of registration or residence permit or other comparable personal documents (for online procedures you need your new ID card or a comparable authentication option).

  • You submit an application to the competent Chamber of Crafts for information from the register of owners of a business in a trade that does not require a license or a trade similar to a trade.
  • In your application, you name the company you want information about and state your legitimate interest.
  • After examining the legitimate interest, the Chamber of Crafts will provide you with the information.
  • If there is no legitimate interest of the person concerned against it, you will be given the information. However, you may only use this data for the purpose that you specified when you submitted your application.
