Detailed description

You apply for and receive student financial aid (BAföG) from the student financial aid office responsible for your area. The Federal Office of Administration (BVA) is responsible for the repayment of the BAföG loan after your studies.



The student loan offices will transmit your data once to the Federal Office of Administration (BVA). There, an electronic file will be created and your loan account will be set up.



You must inform the Federal Office of Administration (BVA) of any changes to your name or address, even if you no longer receive BAföG (student financial aid). You should also inform your former BAföG office of these changes.

  • You have received BAföG at an earlier time or are currently receiving BAföG.
  • Your name or address has changed.

You can send messages and upload documents via the online service throughout the entire repayment process.



When you log in to the online service with your identity card, you have access to additional services such as daily updated account and file access. Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Administration (BVA).



If you do not inform the BVA in a timely manner about the change of your data and it has to determine your address, you will have to pay a processing fee of 25 euros.

Deadlines

You must announce the change immediately.

Procedure

If you wish to report the change online:

  • You access the online portal of the Federal Office of Administration (BVA).
  • You can log in either with your email address and a password or with your identity card with activated online identification function (eID).
  • You log in with your email address and use the change form.
  • When logging in with eID, you can directly update the data stored at the BVA yourself.

If you wish to notify us of the change in writing:

  • You fill out the form to notify changes.
  • You submit the form to the BVA.

Processing time

The processing time may vary in individual cases.
