Prerequisites
Are subject to registration
- Farms that keep 350 or more laying hens or
- Farms that keep fewer than 350 hens but market their eggs subject to labeling.
Only businesses that keep fewer than 350 laying hens and only sell their eggs directly to the end consumer from the farm or through door-to-door sales are exempt from the registration requirement.
All producers, even if they keep fewer than 350 laying hens, who market their eggs on the weekly market must mark the eggs with the producer code and are therefore subject to registration.
Registration can only take place if the minimum conditions and requirements of the EU Animal Protection Directive are met. The strict requirements of the Animal Welfare and Farm Animal Husbandry Ordinance must also be met.
