Detailed description

As a commercial person, you must report any demolition, renovation or maintenance work involving materials containing asbestos to the responsible authorities.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You carry out demolition, renovation and maintenance work on materials containing asbestos as a specialist company. At least one competent person authorized to give instructions is active on site during the work.
  • Demolition and renovation work on materials containing asbestos in a weakly bound form can only be carried out by a specialist company with official approval.
  • Before starting work, you have carried out compulsory occupational health screening for all employees who carry out work with materials containing asbestos.

Documents required

The notification must be made by the employer no later than seven days before the start of the activities and contain at least the following information:

  • Location of the workplace
  • Types and quantities of asbestos used or handled
  • Activities carried out and procedures used
  • Number of employees involved
  • Start and duration of activities
  • Measures to limit the release of asbestos and to limit the exposure of employees to asbestos

Please note

Certificates of expertise are valid for a period of 6 years. Further information on the expert training courses can be found in Annexes 3 and 4 of TRGS 519.

Deadlines

Report activities involving asbestos-containing materials to the responsible authority at least 7 days before work begins.

Procedure

  • Report your intended activities with materials containing asbestos to the responsible authority at least 7 days before the start of the activity.
  • For small-scale work, a supplementary display of location and time is required in addition to the company-related display. This notification must be addressed to the occupational safety authority responsible for the location of the property (e.g. construction site).
  • A copy of the notification must be sent to the accident insurance company.
  • The authority will examine your complaint and, if necessary, request further documents or information from you.
  • The authorities record your report.
  • You can start work immediately.
  • The intended activities with materials containing asbestos can be displayed via the online service.
