Detailed description
A wastewater cadastre is a detailed register or database in which information about wastewater facilities and infrastructure in a specific area is systematically recorded, documented and managed. It is a central tool for the management of sewer systems and other wastewater disposal facilities.
A wastewater cadastre is an essential tool for efficiently managing wastewater infrastructure, saving costs, promoting environmental protection and ensuring security of supply.
The purpose of recording and reporting wastewater quantities is to:
- To monitor, plan and optimize the infrastructure.
- to comply with environmental regulations, in particular the prevention of water pollution.
- To distribute costs fairly, for example through fees for wastewater disposal.
- to compile statistics for long-term water management.
Report the amount of wastewater you have generated. This is the actual amount of wastewater that was generated in a certain period of time and was either discharged into the public sewer system or treated on site (for example in a sewage treatment plant).
It includes:
- Wastewater from households (e.g. from toilets, showers, washing machines).
- Industrial wastewater generated during production processes.
- Rainwater when it is discharged into the sewer system (in combined systems).
These quantities are often determined by meters or by calculations, for example based on your fresh water consumption.
