Detailed description

Before you are allowed to set off pyrotechnic fireworks, you must display this. This is the case if the intended pyrotechnic items are those of category F2, F3, F4, P1, P2, T1 or T2. In the vicinity of buildings or systems that are particularly sensitive to fire, fireworks may only be set off at a sufficient distance and taking the wind direction into account (for rockets at least 200 m and otherwise at least 50 m away). The burning of pyrotechnic objects in the immediate vicinity of churches, hospitals, kindergartens and retirement homes as well as half-timbered houses is prohibited. It should be noted that an advertisement can only be made under certain conditions.

Information

Prerequisites

You must have a certificate of competency or have permission from an authority in order to report the burning of pyrotechnic objects.

Documents required

Please attach all necessary information and documents to your application so that the authorities can review your project:

  • Describe your project and the location of the planned fireworks display in detail. In particular, provide the following information:
    • Name and address of the persons responsible for setting off the fireworks, as well as, where necessary, the number and date of the permits or certificates of competence and the issuing authority.
    • Location, type and scope, as well as start and end of the fireworks display
    • Distances to particularly fire-sensitive buildings and facilities within the greatest safety distance
    • the security measures, in particular barrier measures and other precautions to protect the neighborhood and the general public
  • Please attach your permit or certificate of competence to your advertisement for the use of pyrotechnic articles.

Please note

  • The Authority for Justice and Consumer Protection is only responsible for issuing permits for fireworks displays involving large-scale events and professional pyrotechnicians. Permits for small-scale fireworks fall under the jurisdiction of the district consumer protection offices or the centers for business, construction, and the environment. However, given Hamburg's population density, such applications have virtually no chance of success. All applications for fireworks permits have been rejected by the district offices to date.
  • Category 2 pyrotechnic articles may also be set off on December 31st and January 1st by persons who have reached the age of 18.
