Detailed description

According to Section 1 of the Law on the Practice of Dentistry (ZHG), anyone who wishes to practice dentistry on a permanent basis within the scope of this law requires a license to practice as a dentist in accordance with this law. The license to practice medicine entitles the holder to use the designation as a 'dentist'. Temporary practice of dentistry requires a permit that can be revoked at any time in accordance with Section 13 of the ZHG.

Information

Prerequisites

Training within the EU
As a rule, automatic recognition is possible for applicants who have completed their training within the EU, provided that proof of authorization to practice the dental profession in their home country is issued by the competent authorities there (e.g. diploma) in accordance with Appendix V. No. 5.3.2 of Directive 2005/36 / EC certificates of training for dentists (basic training) are presented.

Training outside the EU
It is checked whether an equivalence between the submitted foreign training and the local training can be recognized. The documents listed below must be submitted for this. If necessary, certified copies and a translation of these must be submitted. The content of the submitted training is then compared with the training in Hamburg. If this results in significant differences or deficits, a knowledge test by the Dental Association is required, otherwise equivalence will be recognized.
