The maintenance advance is a state benefit for children of single parents. The maintenance advance is a social benefit with which the youth welfare offices support single parents with at least one child who is obliged to pay maintenance.

The maintenance advance helps you, as a single parent, to secure your child's financial livelihood. The responsible authority checks annually whether you are still entitled to maintenance advance and requests your cooperation. For the check, you must answer questions and submit documents.

The prerequisite for receiving maintenance advances is that the other parent does not pay maintenance to you, or only pays it partially, or does not pay it regularly. The prerequisite for the annual review of the further entitlement is that you receive or have received maintenance advances.
