Port Anniversary Elbphilharmonie

The Elbphilharmonie and the NDR Orchestra teamed up to present lovers of classical music with a special treat: free live streams for all.

Port Anniversary: Elbphilharmonie and HafenCity

For the 2018 edition of the Hamburg PORT ANNIVERSARY, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and NDR Orchestra teamed up for the first time ever to present lovers of classical music with a very special goodie. Inside Hamburg’s newest landmark the renowned NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra fascinated ticket-holders with live performances, while outside, on Platz der Deutschen Einheit square, a live stream enabled everybody else to follow the concerts for free. There, fans of the Star Wars movies delighted in John Williams’ original score. In addition, Gustav Holst’s “Planets” was performed. In addition, selected concert highlights from the first year of the Elbphilharmonie’s existence were screened.

Hamburg's youngest district offers even more than the Elbphilharmonie. On Kehrwiederspitze, the South Africa Festival introduced food and wine of the country by the Cape of Good Hope.
In the small canals that traverse HafenCity, kids could enjoy their first sailing experiences and the Sandtorhafen museum port offered Open Ship Events throughout the entire weekend.
For lovers of maritime sports, the 3rd HafenCity Championships were a definite highlight. The event at Grasbrookhafen included exciting sailing regattas and dragon boat races.
