A Summer's Tale
A Summer's Tale Festival
A mere one-hour drive south of Hamburg, yet another music festival has established itself in the city’s immediate vicinity. While Wacken Festival has its cult following of heavy metal fans and Hurricane Open Air caters to fans of all forms of popular rock and pop music, A Summer’s Tale attempts to put a focus on the overall festival experience rather than a certain musical genre. Much of the programme of this family-friendly festival reflects the peaceful and quiet surroundings of the beautiful heathlands surrounding quaint Lüneburg city, where deep forests shut out the outside world for a wonderful summer weekend.
Next to well-established international indie acts like New Model Army, Mando Diao and the Editors and long-standing “Hamburgian” crowd favourites like Tocotronic and Kettcar, the festival has a strong focus on other art forms as well. For example, the weekend will offer plenty of opportunities to attend various readings, speeches and performances. Film screenings, workshops and activities make sure that everybody will find something to get invested in. To ensure a great experience for parents with kids, A Summer’s Tale offers designated family campgrounds. And where other campers sometimes turn festival grounds into a wasteland, a Summer’s Tale attempts to live in unison with nature, e.g. by using local produce and arranging a special food-sharing tent.
