Pretty Blankenese with its steep streets, quaint fishermen’s houses and lush villas towering high above the river Elbe is often lauded for its Mediterranean vibe. In winter, Blankenese is just as enchanting as in summer. Opposite S-Bahn station Blankenese, a cosy Christmas market invites visitors to traditional eggnog, mulled wine and a wide variety of snacks. Besides classics like crepes and sausages, you'll be able to enjoy Tuscan specialties, juicy burgers and roasted almonds and apples. The heart of it all is the 'Glühwein Lounge' that provides cosy refuge from the chill. Kids will be delighted to discover the ice-skating rink and historic carousel.
On 16 November, 2021, the Hamburg Senate made the '2G rule' binding for areas with an increased risk of coronavirus infection, meaning that patrons must be able to show proof of vaccination against or recovery from COVID-19. This applies to any areas at Christmas markets where food or drinks are sold.
